Florida teen charged with conspiracy to commit murder
Yaquelin Galvez Don, the 13-year-old accused of scheming to kill her parents, will be tried as an adult, according to authorities.
According to WESH, Don and her 15-year-old boyfriend Pedro Solis were charged with principal to attempted premeditated first-degree murder, as well as conspiracy to commit murder. Officials say the teen brought her mother, Luz Galvez, into her garage on Northwest 55th Place, allowing her boyfriend to slit her throat.
Prior to slitting Galvez’s throat, Solis told her that she should allow her daughter to be with him and that she should not have hit him with a stick the last time they saw one another.
Investigators say the two teens also threatened to slit Don’s father’s throat, but he persuaded them to rush his wife to the nearest hospital after Galvez told Solis that he could be with her daughter and that she wouldn’t sue him.
After being left at the curb of Munroe Regional Medical Center, Galvez was immediately rushed to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
According to investigators, Don and Solis had been plotting for over a week via Facebook messages to kill Don’s parents. After having undergone surgery, Galvez is currently recovering from her injury while her wheelchair-bound husband, Jorge Don-Brianes, is being taken care of by the Department of Children and Families.
Don was booked into the Marion County Jail at approximately 4:14 p.m. on Friday.
