A long time ago, Jay Z just us to know that hes a hustler, baby. After accomplishing all that there is to accomplish in the music world, S. Carter has focused his business acumen in other arenas. He expanded his reach in the fashion world beyond Rocawear with his Barneys line. He entered the sports world when he became an owner of the NBA’s Nets franchise and starting his sports management firm, Roc Nation Sports. Most recently, he acquired the “Ace of Spades” champagne imprint that he had been promoting for years. These are just a few of his moves. Now, Jay has decided to enter the music streaming world with his purchase of WiMP for $56 million. WiMP is one of Spotify’s biggest rivals and is extremely popular in Scandinavian nations. The company also runs, Tidal, a Norwegian streaming service. Through his London-based company, Project Panther Bidco, Jay Z offered $56 million to buy Aspiro, a company based in Sweden and it is reported that Aspiro’s main shareholder accepted the offer. In a statement, Jay Z said: Panther believes that the recent developments in the entertainment industry, with the migration to music and media streaming, offers great potential for increased entertainment consumption and an opportunity for artists to further promote their music. Panther’s strategic ambition revolves around global expansion and up-scaling of Aspiro’s platform, technology and services. Jay Z continues to make boss-like moves in the business world. Hip-hop mogul, Marion “Suge” Knight has been in the middle of controversy since his heyday in the 90’s as CEO of the legendary Death Row Records imprint. He has been implicated in gang activity and numerous violent incidents and has been in and out of jail over the years. After awhile, it seemed like Suge Knight had nine lives, but he may have run out of them after this latest incident. He has been arrested for murder after an allegedly intentional hit-and-run in California. Suge Knight was in Compton and made his way to the set of the new NWA biopic that is filming. He reportedly got into a fight with two other men on the set. Outnumbered, Suge got into his car and threw it in reverse, hitting three men. One of the men, named Terry Carter suffered fatal injuries. Suge drove away from the scene and police found his truck abandoned in a parking lot in Westwood. Early this morning, Suge Knight was arrested and booked on murder charges. His bail has been set at $2 million. Some are saying that the two men that Suge was fighting with instigated everything and Suge fled due to his frail condition. He was shot six time last summer. Others are saying that Suge reversed the car twice, implicating that he intended to hurt somebody. It is said that Ice Cube and Dr. Dre are involved in the production of the NWA biopic, but neither were on the scene when Suge Knight showed up. Reportedly, filming hadread more

One of the most sacred rights for many that Americans are afforded as citizens is the right to bear arms. People will fight for their right to carry guns for many reasons, the main one being protection for themselves and/or their families. Last year, there was a reported 21,093,273 background checks as a part of a major surge in private gun ownership applications. During the first six months of 2014, when these new gun owners got their guns, violent crime decreased as well as property crime, according to the FBI. This means that with more guns on the street, there was less crime. Breitbart reports: According to the FBI, “murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape…aggravated assault, and robbery” all showed decreases when the first six months of 2014 were juxtaposed with the first six months of 2013. Murder fell by “6 percent,” rape by “10.1 percent,” aggravated assault dropped “1.6 percent,” and robbery fell by “10.3 percent.” Offenses of property crime–“burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft”–all decreased during the first six months of 2014 as well, when contrasted with the first six months of 2013. Burglary fell “14 percent,” larceny-theft fell “5.6 percent,” and motor vehicle thefts fell “5.7 percent.” The region that saw the biggest dip after the surge in gun sales was the Midwest. Analysis also showed that non-metropolitan areas saw more of a decrease than metropolitan areas (although they saw a decrease as well). This decrease in crime in correlation to an increase in gun sales has been a trend over the past twentyread more

Things haven’t been going so great for Boston hip-hop veteran, Benzino, as of late. Benzino rose to prominence when he was a co-owner of The Source magazine and is now CEO of Hip Hop Weekly. However, most people these days know the rapper from his role on the VH1 reality hit, “Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta,” but due to an altercation with cast members, he has been given the boot from that. While filming last season, he was shot by a family member at his mother’s funeral. Maybe this incident made him paranoid enough to travel with protection and the reason he was recently popped at the Atlanta airport with a loaded gun. Benzino (government name Raymond Scott) was charged Tuesday for carrying a gun into an unauthorized area when a loaded gun was found in his carry-on bag. He was held and released on $3,000 bond. The rapper says that the arrest was an “unfortunate and honest mistake.” He claims to have forgotten to take the gun out the bag. He also claims that the gun is legally registered to him, however, he did not have a license to carry the gun. Benzino is the next in a list of rappers busted with guns in airports. In October of last year, Too $hort was arrested at the Burbank Airport with a gun. A few days later, Waka Flocka Flame was arrested at the same airport as Benzino. It would seem that as gangster as these guys portray themselves to be, they would be more aware.
