Fashion comes under fire a lot in society for many reasons, but Brooklyn photographer, Andre Perry could never have dreamed of receiving the charge he received for wearing a two-finger ring. He was charged with weapons possession when police accused him of wearing brass knuckles for the jewelry on his fingers. Perry, a professional photographer who has done work for companies such a Reebok, Brooklyn Circus and Nordstrom was standing near the N/Q/R platform in November when two NYPD officers stopped him. The officers (one of whom is under investigation for another weapons arrest) started questioning him about his ring. Perry explained to the officers that it was a $30 piece of jewelry he bought at a Williamsburg flea market,  in hopes that the officers would allow him to continue his trip to his office in SoHo. The officers were adamant that his ring was a set of brass knuckles that he could use to hurt somebody and arrested Perry. In turn, Perry told the officer that he could just as easily hurt the officer that he could hurt somebody with his hands. It didn’t matter. One of the officers in plainclothes told Perry that he definitely had a weapon on him and he was cuffed. “The officer approached me as if I was a threat to society,” said an angry Perry. Perry was released without bail. He to hire criminal defense attorney Mark Bederow before his next court date on the 13th of January.
