30 WHITE People Arrested For Misusing Food Stamps

You see it all the time. The majority in this society look down on food stamp recipients and usually reserve their ire for Black people using terms such as “welfare queen.” This view is flawed, because, while there are many Blacks relying on the government for food stamps, there are far more Whites receiving government benefits. Maybe the critiques throwing insults at Black folks who use their food stamps honestly should take a look at a story coming out of New York where 30 people have been knocked for food stamp fraud. The 30 arrested for defrauding the government of food stamps come from Brushton, NY. The arrests have taken place from January to February and the investigation is ongoing. For a year, investigators have been watching the Old Time Butcher Block Store, owned by Dennis Sauve from North Bangor, who was also arrested. According to reports, the accused used their EBT Cards to buy booze and other items that aren’t purchasable with food stamps (food stamp recipients can only buy cold foods with their cards). SOme even received cash back. Police charged the group with second degree criminal use of a public benefit card, petit larceny, and misuse of food stamps. Most were released with an appearance ticket, but one was held for parole violations. Suave caught more charges for his role in the misuse of the food stamps. He was slapped with a third-degree grand larceny charge as well as misuse of food stamps. This is his second time being charged for food stamp fraud.read more

$900 Million Possibly Stolen From Banks Around The World By Hackers

Usually, a bank robbery is a big scene. Brazen, masked men bust into a bank with guns, demand money and skate from the scene in a getaway car. In 2015, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the scenario, evidenced by a the theft of $300 million ($900 million potentially) by international computer hackers. Hackers believed to be from Russia, China and Europe used normal hacking techniques to gain intelligence from the employees at various banks through malware masked as safe emails from colleagues. They studied the employees and the internal workings of the bank with advanced software, tracking their moves in order to get familiar. The hackers sought out employees that are responsible for bank transfers and ATM remote controls. Video and screenshots were taken of the employees’ computer screens, then those activities were mimicked by the hackers to transfer money to accounts that they controlled without the bank knowing. For instance, they would see the account had $1,000 in it, then change that to $10,000. From there, they would transfer $9,000 to a dummy account, leaving no trace of anything odd. Kaspersky Labs reports that more than 100 banks have been hit by these hackers during this heist, which authorities say is ongoing. $300 million stolen has been substantiated, but investigators say that it is possible that $900 million was stolen. It is suspected that these attacks have been happening over a span of years. If the numbers are authentic, this may go down as the biggest bank heist in the history of the world.read more
