What is every companies dream? Simple. Having a commercial of theirs air during the Super Bowl. For as long as advertising has been around, companies from around the world have tried tirelessly to get their commercial aired during that famous Sunday evening. This year’s game got a whopping 114 million viewers from around the world and there were north of 70 unique commercials that premiered. Talk about hitting a large audience. Despite the game’s social implications, and the fact that the price tag to have a 90 second ad during the game was a stern 9 million dollars, there were a few great commercials that made us think, smile and laugh. If lessons haven’t been learned from the many people who have tried smuggling drugs and guns into airports to transport to other places, it is never a good idea. Airport security is tight and with each passing year, technology and procedures are developed to stop smugglers from getting their contraband from Point A to Point B. An unfortunate soul recently tried the security at JFK Airport in New York City, when he tried to smuggle cocaine in his things through the security checkpoint. Jose Rodrigues, 58, of Fort Lee, NJ probably had dreams of grandeur as he was headed to the Dominican Republic. Who knows how many times he’s made this trip before, but this time, he was equipped with a kilo of cocaine in his luggage. He wasn’t too conspicuous about it. The coke was stuffed in a hollowed out audio speaker lined with foil to avoid detection. Maybe, the fact that too many people aren’t travelling with speakers tipped off security, but they did find the cocaine and Rodrigues was arrested at Terminal 4. Rodrigues stands charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance for the kilo of cocaine in the speaker. Let this be another example of what not to do in the airport. You may think you have all the angles covered, but the authorities are ready for everything out there. You may be presented with what seems to be a foolproof plan, but if you want to stay free, it’s best to just not try it. [NJ.com]
