Apple announced it would be jumping in the automotive industry with its announcement of CarPlay at the Geneva International Motor Show on Monday. It’s an iPhone related option installed in cars to make driving much safer. It’s already available in selected Ferraris, Mercedes and Volvos. And several other car makers are ready to jump onboard in the future the likes of BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, and Jaguar, among others.

Apple describes Carplay as being the “the smarter, safer and more fun way” to get access from your iPhone. All options can be controlled from the car’s dashboard/touchscreen using a word or touch. There will also be a button on the steering wheel to access and active Siri commands while driving. Check out the other features below.

CarPlay gives drivers access to all their music, podcasts, audiobook sand even iTunes Radio with the built-in controls. Or with the help of Siri, you can locate what you want to hear, with options which include Spotify and iHeartRadio, you can listen to your favorite apps while driving.

CarPlay will driving and get directions much simpler by working with Maps to anticipate destinations based on your most trips via you iPhones contacts, emails, text and how traffic conditions and let you know the driver’s ETA. The drivers can ask Siri for spoken turn-by-turn directions which will appear on the car’s display.
