In English, we say that a person has big balls. In Spanish, they may say you have “cajones”. All of those statements make a relation between manhood, masculinity and straight audacity. All of those things on the low are connected to a man’s ability to reproduce. So if you are that dude or think you’re that dude, you have to make sure your the balls in your ball sack are up to par. You need to make sure you do self check ups on your testicles to make sure that they are healthy.

Testicular cancer isn’t talked about that often. It doesn’t have the marketing campaign that breast cancer or other types of cancer have. It usually strikes young males and isn’t usually terminal if caught early enough where it hasn’t had a chance to spread to the rest of the body. Fans of 106 and Park may remember a emcee by the name of Posta Boy who disappeared off of the scene abruptly around 2006. Turns out he had testicular cancer. He had to have one testicle and a kidney removed after one of his testicles swelled up to the size of a tennis ball. YDB (Young Dirty Bastard), the son of the late Old Dirty Bastard, just revealed last year that he has testicular cancer. So yeah, don’t sleep, if you got nuts you can catch a case also.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 8,340 cases of testicular cancer will be detected this year. 1 in 263 males will develop testicular cancer. About 380 men will die of testicular cancer that isn’t found early enough and treated. The average age at which males develop testicular cancer is around thirty three. Even with all of the above death by testicular cancer is still rare when detected and treated. Only about one in every five thousand men who have testicular cancer end up dying in the United States.

What you want to do when you are taking that shower is fondle your nuts. You don’t have to do it every shower yet try doing it once a week. When that water is warm or hot, that whole area shrinks so that you can more easily feel imperfections that may be present. What you are looking for are any small hard nodes in or around that ball sack. This is the most common symptom, a painless lump. Sometimes the testicles may become swollen, larger or painful. Let me just say right here if your balls are hurting and you ain’t been kicked in the balls in the immortal words of Kool Moe Dee, “Go see the doctor!”

The good news is that if caught early, testicular cancer can be dealt with effectively. A lot of the treatment involves non-invasive forms of treatment. Even when the treatment has to be invasive (surgery) it is one of the safest surgeries out there and the recovery rate (along with remission) is right next to 100%. Listen, this may have been the longest time that I have talked about anyone’s nuts other than my own yet I want my brothers out there to be healthy. So check you nuts. If they ain’t on point make your way to that clinic or doctor.
