Whoa!

Netflix’s Daredevil series managed to accomplish what the 2003 film, in which Ben Affleck portrayed the blind superhero, couldn‘t — getting the character right. The series’ first season was lauded by critics and fans-alike, so much so that the show was renewed for another season in April, only weeks after it premiered. Now, news that Marvel fan-favorite, Frank Castle A.K.A. “The Punisher”, will star in the next season has surfaced, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Jon Bernthal, who most notably played “Shane” in The Walking Dead, will portray the vigilante anti-hero in the forthcoming season, which is a pretty spot on choice. “Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television explained and anyone familiar with his work on TWD can attest to this claim. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock [A.K.A. Daredevil] and nothing will be the same.”

Those familiar with the comic book series know that Daredevil and The Punisher have quite a volatile, violent relationship, as the two differ on their means of cleaning up the streets. While Daredevil seeks “justice”, The Punisher is known for his more extreme measures of “punishment”.

Charlie Cox is returning to play the lawyer-by-day-crimefighter-by-night, Matt Murdock, and word has it that along with The Punisher, his archenemy, Bullseye and eventual love interest Elektra could also debut next season. In fact, Bullseye might’ve already been casted and you won’t believe who may be playing him (per Latino Review).

According to a trusted source at Marvel’s new TV production offices, Jason Statham is being pursued to play Bullseye in season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series.

It is not yet confirmed as reps would not give me a call back.

Our spies spotted him meeting with Marvel personnel earlier this week while taking a break from the press tour for Spy. Aside from Bullseye, other villainous characters who are said to appear in Daredevil‘s highly-anticipated second season include Mr. Fear, Mysterio (one of Spider-Man’s iconic rogues), and Elektra – Daredevil’s eventual love interest.

This of course is merely hearsay at this point, but imagine that!
