After 1.6 million albums sold from Some Nights, Fun. frontman Nate Ruess is going solo with his upcoming album Grand Romantic.

The album was solely produced by the legendary Jeff Bhasker, who also produced “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monae. We attended an exclusive album listening party at the iconic Electric Lady Studios in NYC’s Greenwich Village. The studio was decorated with candles and bouquets of fresh flowers creating an intimate setting, and of course there was champagne.

Ruess thanked his label Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic records for their support and for not “killing him” for wanting to do something different. He started to talk about the album, but quickly stopped to say “I’m better when I’m singing” and then did just that by performing a few acoustic songs with Josh Klinghoffer (current guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Six songs from the album were played starting with “AhHa” and including “Great Big Storm” and “Nothing Without Love” which was released earlier this year. Grand Romantic is due out June 16 and it promises to be a great album. You can listen to the full stream here.
