In some dimension, Kool Keith is teaching graduate course level time theory and economics. Unfortunately, that dimension isn’t this one. The next best thing we have is to await new music from the Bronx emcee. And now we have a date. His next album, with Mello Music Group producer, L’Orange, is set for July 24th and the title is just as odd as the man himself: Time? Astonishing! The album will feature Blu, Open Mike Eagle, Mr. Lif, J-Live, and more with L’Orange supposedly stepping out of his comfort zone to provide the audio backdrop to the very strange journeys of Kool Keith.
The video we present today is for the nomadic single “The Wanderer.” L’Orange chops up a fast paced, jazzy piano sample for Kool Keith’s wandering mind. His verses go between the protagonist, the wanderer, and himself. Or is he the wanderer? The world may never know. What we do know is that Kool Keith’s lyrics will continue to amaze us in all directions.
