No one is surprised

Eminem seems to be recession proof; while everyone not named Macklemore or Ryan Lewis has seen a dip in their album sales, Slim Shady has found a way to do even better. The music industry’s woes are not a secret–thanks to the advent of the internet, ushering in an era of illegal downloads and free streaming–and that buying records are quickly becoming a thing of a past. Well, Em’s fans haven’t gotten that memo. In its first week of sales, MMLP2 sold 792,000 copies, topping not only this weeks charts, and coming second only to Justin Timberlake for the entire year. It’s impressive numbers exceeds the feats set by his previous work, Recovery, which sold 741,000 its first week. Definitely one of the best weeks in recent history, Marshall Mathers efforts are the envy of the industry, and should be studied by up-and-coming emcees.
