The First Lady and rapper Wale are joining forces for a good cause

Next Thursday, the First Lady Michelle Obama is teaming up with DC native and recording artist Wale for an initiative that promotes higher education. The all-day event will feature the Flotus on a panel with the Wale, Manuel Contreras ( rising senior at Brown University), Education Secretary Arne Duncan and will be moderated by E! News co-host Terrence Jenkins. Wale will perform a concert for the 150-plus students in attendance at the White House.

The event is part of President Obama’s Reach Higher initiative that encourages all students to try and pursue post-high school education. According to the White House in a released statement, “This event will focus on sharing tools and strategies students can use to successfully transition to college and the resources they will need to complete the next level of their education.”
