Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have an off switch, every time he gets in front of a camera or behind a microphone, you can be sure something insane is going to happen. Whether he is freestyling or spitting some lines he wrote down, you know that it will be able to compete against any competitor’s work, if not dominate. 2013 is coming to a close, but the title of lyricist of the year was already decided back in the summer, when his “Control” verse was released; his high profile features for Pusha T, Fredo Santana, and Jhene Aiko further cemented his place at the top.

His “Rapper of the Year” award that Gentleman Quarterly bestowed upon him, is well deserved and hard to argue against. During the magazine’s photo shoot, Kendrick decided to spit a freestyle.
