Cee-Lo and Janelle Monae

I almost fainted when I learned Goodie Mob was back in the studio. But when I attended their New York listening session and heard tracks from “Age Against The Machine” the groups first full-length album since 2005′s “Livin’ Life As LumberJacks” I had multiple eargasims. Multiple!

Staying true to their funky and unconventional roots, Goodie Mob incorporates deep social issues and inconvenient truths within undeniable head knockin’ beats.

Their newest single “Special Education” featuring fellow Atl native Janelle Monae incorporates alternative hughes , but is also laced with that unique Atlanta hip hop the group is most known for. Lyrically, Special Eduction tackles people’s desire to be accepted so much that no one is willing to be themselves.

I don’t wear the clothes you wear.

I’m just different I don’t care

Its kind of sad at least a shame

Everyone wants to be the same

If you are listening here and now

I’m sure I can show you how

It’s okay to be afraid

Don’t you want to be special

I don’t know what hip hop did to deserve this, but on behalf of the culture, thank you!

Age Against The Machine drops Aug. 27.
