One would think that discrimination against people of color would die down in 2015. It seems after documentaries and special reports, it still exists. A group of women in the UK learned the hard way when they simply wanted to have a girls night out at one of London’s popular night clubs.

According to The Voice, 26 year old Zakia Miller and her friends decided that they wanted to go to DSTRKT, a nightclub in London known to have A- list celebrities. Miller says that prior to going to the popular nightclub, the club promoter requested that Miller send him photos of the people she would bring with her to the club. After “careful” evaluation, the promoter of the club gave his “approval” for Miller and her guest to attend.

Miller says that when she and her friend showed up to the club, they were turned away because the club had reached capacity. Later on, other women showed up to the club and were let in. When the women began to ask why they weren’t let in, they were told staff members felt that the women were not “attractive” to enter the club even after they were approved by the promoter.

The women were told that staff felt that one was “too dark” and another “too fat” to enter the club. The women later left and began protesting the club. Not too long after, a DSTRKT staff member confirmed that the nightclub are racist towards women who are not of “caliber” of the club. Brooke Norton, a white staff member said that that she invited friends to the club. Prior before her friends showed up, Norton was told to not invite, “too many black girls”.

Norton’s friends showed up, two white and two black. The white women were let in for free, but the black women had to pay. When the night ended, Norton was told that next time she should only have light skinned, Indian and White women at her table. Norton claims that they took money out her pay because they didn’t count her black friend as a guest.

A protest is set to begin Tuesday against the club. Miller asks all those considered “ugly” to come dressed to kill to protest the club with banners with the hastag, #doilookdstrkt.
