SPOILER: It’s not who you think.

The world of The Walking Dead is a chaotic, dangerous, and unpredictable one. As a viewer, you train yourself to keep a threshold on your attachment to characters — particularly new characters — because as The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has always said, “no one is safe”. However, he might’ve lead viewers astray with this notice, as per a recent interview with Uproxx he disclosed the one character he would never kill off — Carol.

Carol, who’s played by Melissa McBride on the record-breaking AMC mainstay, was initially suppose to die in the season three episode “The Killer Within”, the same episode that (SPOILER) Lori and T. Dogg meet their respective ends. McBride reportedly “lobbied for her character stay on the series,” which lead to her character’s life being spared, and T. Dogg’s taken.

Kirkman per Uproxx:

The Carol that’s in the comic was my attempt to show just how broken an individual can become from the zombie apocalypse. The Carol in the show, which is a much better character let’s be honest, actually is made stronger by all the more horrible things that happen to her in the show. Killing her would definitely not … we can’t do that.

This shouldn’t come to the surprise of anyone who saw last night’s episode (SPOILER ALERT), since she tapped into her inner Rambo: First Blood on the savage invaders known as “The Wolves” who pillaged Alexandria, hacking to death most of the town’s inhabitants. She’s badass and we’re glad we can rest easy knowing she’s one of few we won’t have to watch get her face eaten off by a walker, or gunned down by some lesser mortal. Go Carol!
