The STL battle rapper says there’s a side to 50 Cent most people will never know
Hitman Holla has become one of the country’s biggest battle rappers, bringing back raw lyricism and clever punchlines to hip hop. As a cast member on Nick Cannon’s Wild n Out, his authenticity has garnered him praise from rap’s biggest names, but for 5O Cent, it is another battle that connected him to the Saint Louis rapper.
In the summer of 2014, while Holla was knocking our rappers like Tyson in his prime, his mother Sue Fulton was fighting a much more serious battle of her own.
“My mother was misdiagnosed in 2013 and in 2014 doctors confirmed that she had stage two breast cancer. Doctors removed the tumor from her breast a month later and she started chemo therapy and completed radiation afterwards,”
says Holla.
As Ms.Fulton works to conquer her own fight with cancer, Fulton created a non-profit organization entitled “Passion for Pink” to provide support for youth whose parents or caregivers are suffering from breast cancer.” It was this, that caught Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s attention. In 2014, Jackson’s very beloved grandmother passed away from cancer.
“This is the only person who took care of me. If I had one person in the world that I could give everything I had to and be comfortable with it, it’ll be her,”
said Fif earlier that year.
Jackson told Holla his grandmother was his favorite person in the world. “50 said after losing her, he wants his rematch with cancer through my mother for his Nana. This means so much to me and my family because he doesn’t have to do anything at all. People have a huge misconception about 50. If you really get to know him you’ll see he’s just a fighter and there’s a difference between Curtis Jackson and 50 Cent. He does a lot of good that no one would even know about.”
Hitman Holla says his looking forward to his mother’s full recovery and a good future. He’s excited about his upcoming mixtape entitled “Black Squad” with Conceited. He’ll be starring in director Craig Thomas’ newest film, The First Pick and he recently got a music deal that Nick Cannon orchestrated.
