While you’re out burning calories from last night’s Thanksgiving dinner and bargaining Black Friday sales, let’s give kudos to an outdoor warrior. Hanoi De Los Angeles, became the first person in the world to purchase an Xbox One console last Friday. The Bronx native stood in line for two days last week at the Best Buy Theater in New York City awaiting the system.
“I get to have the bragging rights,” De Los Angeles told the Source while standing in line.
He formed the line on Wednesday November 20th at 9:00 AM ET to pick up the highly coveted game. The temperature high in Manhattan on Wednesday was 44 degrees. “It’s a tremendous system,” said De Los Angeles. “I think it’s going to do a lot of things.”
De Los Angeles said that he wasn’t sure if he would be the first in line when he made his way to Times Square. But he’s honored. “I wanted to be number one, that’s why I chose the day to come. But I didn’t really expect it. Once I was here, it took a while to sink in.”
When he arrived, he was in fact the first in line and he marked his territory. It didn’t take long before more people showed however. “Ten minutes later, fifteen minutes later, the second one came.”
Having been practically sleepless for a couple of days, De Los Angeles was happy when the system arrival date finally arrived. He survived by taking naps outside the store. “I slept 15 or 20 minutes on the chair,” he said.
Microsoft’s Xbox One released nationwide last Friday at midnight. It’s been eight years since the last Xbox gaming system was released. Microsoft’s new toy is not solely focused on gaming. Xbox One extends as a full entertainment system experience. The console allows users to listen to music, watch television programs, new movies and has furthered it’s integration of apps.
