Nintendo is set to release their first video game for smart phones this Thursday. This game is the first of five releases that will be available before 2017. Android and iOS users alike are ecstatic by the news of this upcoming release because it is the only follow up of the announcement made by Nintendo seven months ago.
Nintendo has been doing a good job keeping all the details under wraps about which franchise will be revamped, which classic characters will be involved, or if it will be something brand new all together. They have been keeping anticipation high by not releasing any details. This is probably because Nintendo has high hopes for this mobile game following the recent slow sales of the Wii U console and 3DS handheld system.
They will be teaming up with independent development studio named DeNA to build the game to ensure that it is the game is the best it can be. In March, former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated that, “We aim to make each title a hit” while acknowledging that the game will not be a success “if consumers cannot appreciate the quality of a game”. They plan to make this game top-notch and set it apart from the mini games that already dominate the app store in hopes to boost their sales and bring them back to the top.
Whatever their reasoning, the gaming world is in a frenzy due to their excitement of the newest Nintendo installment. Hopefully for them it will live up to all of their anticipation.
