George Karl is out as the Denver Nuggets head coach
In what my be a shocking move to some but not to others the Denver Nuggets have decided to part ways with George Karl. Karl has been the coach of the Nuggets since the 2004-2005 season and has made the playoffs every year that he was at the helm. On the other side of that accomplishment is that Karl’s Nuggets have only made it out of the first round of the playoffs once.
Karl who was the NBA Coach of the Year has one year left on his current deal with the Nuggets and was seeking an extension with the club. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is saying that the Nuggets were not ready to commit to Karl for the long term.
The Nuggets are now looking to interview Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw and Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins. Karl himself is expected to get a lot of looks to fill head coach vacancies around the league.
