The Royals take the the trophy in Game 5 from the NY Mets on their Queens home turf in extra innings last night
For the fifth game in a row, the Kansas City Royals came from behind at the end of the game to take the lead, the game and the 2015 World Series from the New York Mets. KC rallied up five runs in the 12th inning to secure the Championship title in Game 5 last night at Citi Field.
Matt Harvey gave a stellar performance on the mound for the Mets, keeping the Royals scoreless until the ninth inning, in which the Royals managed to muster up the necessary two runs to tie the game and take it into extra innings. This was the first World Series to have multiple extra inning games since 2001. Edinson Volquez, the Royals pitcher that lost his father during Game 1 of the series, allowed only two hits and two runs to the Amazins in six innings.
The streets of Kansas City exploded in celebration last night while the city is planning for a parade tomorrow to welcome the new champs home.
