adidas ye

Take that, Mark Parker!

While on Hot 97 during his latest press run, Kanye West cited lack of royalties and creative limitations as the main reasons he chose to end his partnership with Nike, who released his historically in-demand Air Yeezy shoe a few years ago. He also revealed that he was teaming up with Adidas, presumably to release the hopefully-soon-to-be-renamed “red October” sequel to the original Air Yeezys, but had no official confirmation to release.

Today, Complex reports that Adidas has in fact officially confirmed the partnership with Sir Yeezus, with the following statement:

For 2014, we welcome to the Adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.

Seems as if Adidas has bought into Ye’s plans to be the post-modern version of Walt Disney. We’ll settle for an official release date for those all-red Yeezys for now. Hopefully, more details to come.
