Glenn Gate continues.
Two weeks ago, fans of the The Walking Dead, were hit with a deafening blow when (SPOILER ALERT) Glenn was presumably killed. Since this ill-fated episode, the TWD massive have speculated on whether he actually died in the form of several theories that have populated across the internet.
While many plausible Glenn theories have arisen, TWD executive producer Greg Nicotero took some time out to debunk one specifically in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’ve read a lot of the theories and they’re hilarious — but Nicholas (Michael Traynor) running out of bullets is incorrect … [fans] were claiming that they could hear an audible ‘click.’ But there was a beat that I don’t think ended up in the episode, [and was taken out] strictly for time where Glenn says to Nicholas, ‘You need to preserve your ammunition and count your bullets.’ As the walkers were coming forward and Nicholas was shooting, he was counting his bullets and he counted down to one.”
Rest easy though, answers are on the horizon according Nicotero. “It’s probably not the last time we’ll visit that dumpster scene,” he teased. “Just like any show—you watch Game of Thrones and the audience sees a character die and they go through all these different emotions and feelings and how they process and accept it. Our show is no different. That story is definitely not over.”
Norman Reedus who plays Daryl Dixon on the award-winning show, also had some commentary on the “Glenn Gate” in a recent interview with Wall Street Journal.
“I was in that episode and I watched that episode and I was like how could they do that! … I had the same feeling, trust me. That’s our show. That’s what we do. We rip your guts out — literally.”
Reedus went on to stress that every little detail counts. “It’s really entered a mature level of storytelling this time,” he said. “Little tiny things mean so much later. You really have to pay attention to everything. The acting is so on point, the directing is so on point. I feel like [showrunner] Scott [Gimple] is really leading the team to the Super Bowl.”
While last weeks Morgan-centered episode provided no resolve as far as the fate of Glenn, we can rest assured that it’s coming. Let’s hope tonights episode gives us some answers.
