According to an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Tracy Morgan has confirmed that he will be playing the role of Redd Foxx in the upcoming Lee Daniels directed Richard Pryor biopic.

In the interview, Morgan exclaims,

“Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice! It will be an honor to portray an icon.”

Redd Foxx, a St. Louis native and legend in the world of comedy, is best known for hois role as Fred Sanford in the classic 70s sitcom Sanford And Son.

Morgan, who was recently cast in the forthcoming Fist Fight flick with Ice Cube, has recently recovered from an almost deadly car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike with a tractor trailer that killed fellow comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair.

The film about Pryor’s life will star Mike Epps as Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Taraji P. Henson as his parents and Oprah Winfrey as his grandmother.
