What would you do if your marriage was failing and you were the only one trying to fix it?

This is the premise of By the Sea. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play a middle aged couple; a writer and a retired dancer, who for unknown reasons are unable to love each other anymore.

Written and directed by Angelina Jolie, the acting was on point, the setting was gorgeous and the story was emotional. Throughout the movie, Roland, played by Pitt was writing and at the same time trying to find ways to gain his wife’s love back. He was searching for ways to save his marriage. Vanessa, played by Jolie, on the other hand was overly obsessed with the young couple next door who had just married and was on honeymoon. Would this young couple bring Roland and Vanessa’s marriage back together, or ultimately destroy it?

This is a movie to watch with your significant other, but only if you’re pretty deep in your relationship. It’s definitely not a first date type of movie or something you would want to go to with your friends to see.  If you love deeply romantic, emotional movies go for it. If you don’t, this may not be the movie for you.

The film hits theaters this Friday.
