On Monday evening, Atlantic Record’s held the official ”Call Me Crazy, but…”release party for their very beautiful and talented Sevyn Streeter.
The event took place at SoHo’s hot spot Mister H and was sponsored by Hennessy. DJ SNS was on the wheels of steel. Guests enjoyed drinks inspired by the EP such as the “Call Me Crazy” which included Hennessy V.S, Fever Tree Ginger Beer, and fresh lime. Guest went absolutely bananas when Sevyn arrived. Cameras and camera phones lights flashed as guests swarmed the young star. In the midst of the frenzy several industry figures arrived to show their support of Sevyn Streeter. Special guest included Kevin Liles, Joe Budden, Harper Lee, Stephen Hill, Mario Winans, Mack Wilds, Angela Yee, and Brittany Sky. Sevyn was glowing from all the love in the room and the event was a complete success.
We listened to Sevyn’s EP and heres what we think:
“Call Me Crazy, But…” the official EP from Sevyn Streeter was released on December 2, 2013. The Florida native has been performing and touring since since the early 2000′s with different groups such as TG4 and Rich Girl. The 27 year old has written for top artists such as Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Trey Songz, Fantasia Barrino, Ariana Grande and Chris Brown with whom she collaborated with on this project. Although Sevyn has been on the scene for so long “Call Me Crazy, But…” is her debut solo project as a performing artist.
The EP has seven tracks and opens with “Come On Over” an up beat song produced by D’Mile who has produced for the likes of Mary J. Blige and Rhianna. The second track “It Won’t Stop” features Chris Brown and has a much slower tempo and more relaxed vibe. “Sex on the Ceiling” track 3 shows a more sexual side of Sevyn that is not necessarily revealed on any other track. The fourth cut from the EP “Call me crazy” brings us back to that upbeat new R&B feeling that we felt on the opening of the EP. “B.A.N.S.” which stands for “Bitch Ass Ni–as” deals with a much heavier subject matter than the other songs. Some of the lyrics in include “I should have used protection instead of loving so fast” and “One minute call us baby, next minute call us crazy ni–as be on that bull shit”. These lyrics can be interpreted in several different ways and applied to several situations woman find themselves in as a result of falling in “love” too fast. The final track entitle “nEXt” has a very fun symphonic melody with an interesting notion of forever dating the same person where you ex is you “nEXt.”
All in all Sevyn Streeter has proven why she is the emerging talent to watch. From her steamy lyrics, to her amazing vocals, to her emotion delivered through each track, Sevyn Streeter is truly a breathe of fresh air.
