With Juicy J out of the picture, DJ Paul is taking the Memphis collective in a whole new direction.
Juicy J is doing pretty well for himself. Twenty years into the game, an Oscar award and a platinum plaque later, all as a member of Three 6 Mafia, Juicy crafted quite the launching pad for his solo career, which now boasts a platinum single (“Bands”), and a very solid debut album ready to release later on this summer. Unfortunately, according to DJ Paul’s interview with HipHopDX, the other 6 members of Three 6 Mafia, such as DJ Paul, Crunchy Black, Gangsta Boo, among others, are planning to form a new group not including the Taylor Gang member. Three 6 Mafia will not be the name of the resurrected group, as the new moniker will be Da Mafia 6ix. We don’t have an exact date for the group’s official launch, but it will be interesting to see how they carry on without Sir J of the Juice.
Koopsta Knicca, Gangsta Boo, Lord Infamous and Crunchy [Black]. The name of the group is Da Mafia 6iX. So like I said we can’t consider it a Three 6 Mafia reunion without all the members of the [group] being in it so we’ll just say that it’s a reunion of members of the Mafia that created a totally new group called Da Mafia 6iX. [Fans] are going crazy about it on Twitter, they happy as hell, they’ve been waiting on this for years, some of these members have been gone since 2000, you know, it’s 2013
