Kanye-West-500x5001-500x330

Kanye West continues his radio tour, which has already given the internet enough meme-able moments to keep it satisfied for quite awhile—well, technically that’s an assumption, we can’t adequately predict what will happen, because we don’t have the answers. Every stop of the way, he has reiterated the fact that those in the fashion industry seem to be orchestrating to marginalize him, even though he is arguably the most important creative on the planet right now. When he made his way to the Ricky Smiley Show, the conversation still revolved around these same talking points, but he did provide some much needed clarity on a few.

Continuing the comparison with his older brother, Jay ZKanye stated that they are the first black entertainers that are dealing with these glass ceilings, which creates their frustration in both artist. They then pour this anxiety and anger into their music, helping their creative process for Watch The Throne.

“Cause we both are frustrated because we both breaking down boundaries and walls in our own way. It’s like that man had to do everything he did in his career to be able to get a piece of the Nets…And then when he wanted to get into baseball everybody complaining at him like ‘How you ain’t gonna…’ Everybody got they ideas of what they would do if they was you, but there’s no other me or Jay Zs. You know what I’m saying? So, a lot of times we have to take into consideration public opinion to a certain extent, but then also take the education that we doing.” via hiphopdx

He also indirectly admitted that calling himself grand names like “Steve Jobs”, “Walt Disney”, or “Creative Genius” are more metaphorical, rather than literal comparisons. He is name dropping for reference, so people can understand where and how he sees himself. However, he does believe that he is a creative genius and there is no other way to put it.

When I did that interview [with BBC Radio 1], I was really vocal about a lot of the things I’ve been dealing with over the past ten years, in classification of just a celebrity, because for me, I’m a creative genius. There’s no other way to word it. I know you’re not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive. I want to bring more things to the world. I want to help the world.” via hiphopdx

Kanye goes into further detail about a slew of topics, from the inspiration of “N****s In Paris”, to the Kim Kardashian. You can view all of the videos at the Ricky Smiley website, here
