December 12 marks the late Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday. The recording academy is celebrating Ol’ Blue Eyes with a star-studded centennial tribute tomorrow [Sunday, December 6] at the Wynn, Las Vegas.
The special, Sinatra 100 — An All-Star Grammy Concert, will feature performances by Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Zac Brown, Harry Connick, Jr., Celine Dion, Nick Jonas,Quincy Jones, Juanes, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Adam Levine, LL Cool J, Seth MacFarlane, Katharine McPhee, Robert Patrick, Jeremy Renner, Nancy Sinatra, Sam Smith, Carrie Underwood, Usher, and Trisha Yearwood.
The Sinatra family is heavily involved in the show and Ken Ehrlich will executive produce. Lou Horvitz will direct, and David Wild and Ehrlich are writers. Don Was, the president of Blue Note Records, is serving as the music director.
John Legend shared, “you’re going to see songs sung by Frank Sinatra, some of the greatest songs written. He was able to pick songs from some of the best songwriters of all time and we’re going to try to do them justice. I think it’s a great collection of singers here today. He was a boss in every way. He had the aura, he had the talent, he had it all. I love this kind of music, I’ve always loved it and I’ve always sung it over the years.”
