Late yesterday, Presdient Obama issued an official address from the Oval Office, vowing to destroy the terrorist organization ISIS and condeming the San Bernardino shooting by a Muslim couple, saying, “This was an act of terrorism designed to kill innocent people.”

In the President’s most passionate speech denouncing the group, he vowed to destroy the terrorist organization in a relentless campaign that will not deviate from America’s values of inclusiveness to all ethnicities and religions. He also asked Congress to authorize U.S. armed forces to wage war against the ISIS group. In a Republican-run Congress, the later is going to be virtually impossible.

“Here’s what I want you to know. The threat from terrorism is real, but we will overcome it. We will destroy ISIL and any other organization that tries to harm us.”

Also, as part of his combat against terrorism campaign, Obama promises to strengthen gun control laws, which he says will make it harder for those trying to harm Americans to have access to weapons.

Republicans sternly disapprove Obama’s handling of the U.S. terrorism crisis and will be using this as an oportunity to condemn the Democratic strategy against terrorism. National security, the role of Muslims in U.S. society and threats to the homeland have become an explosive element in the 2016 campaign.
