In what some onlookers mistook for performance art was an actual stabbing that took place over the weekend at the world renowned Art Basel Miami Beach event.
Friday night, an art patron was stabbed in the neck and arms following a brief, but minor confrontation with her attacker at the upscale art exhibit. Champagne sipping observers thought that the stabbing was a part of a live art performance and the police tape marking the crime scene was just a larger part of the exhibit.
The stabbing happened near the exhibit of Miami-based artist Naomi Fisher and Agatha Wara. Fisher told local reporters, “A guy walked up to me and said, ‘I thought I saw a performance, and I thought it was fake blood, but it was real blood.’”
The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, while her female attacker, Siyuan Zhao, was arrested and charged with felony attempted murder.
