A little more than a week after the birth and death anniversaries of Wu Tang Clan founder Russell Jones aka Ol’ Dirty Bastard, it was announced that the WTC one of a kind Once Upon A Time In Shoalin album was sold for millions. Today, Bloomberg announced the buyer.
Pharmaceutical CEO Martin Shkreli bought the only copy of the album for a reported $2 million. The 31-track album comes in a hand-carved box, accompanied by a leather-bound book with 174 pages filled with lyrics and background on the songs. Once Upon A Time… was stored in a vault in the Royal Mansour Marrakech Hotel in Morocco and all copies have been destroyed.
The shrewd pharmaceutical businessman behind Turing Pharmaceuticals made the news earlier this year for increasing the price of Daraprim—a drug used to treat AIDS and cancer patients—from $13.50 to $750.
Shkreli requested on Twitter to have his followers to help him pick his next “private album”.
