As reported in the Monmouth University National polls, Republican front runner Donald Trump‘s lead among the Republican candidates going into tonight’s GOP debate in Las Vegas has placed him at the forefront of 2016’s Presidential race.

With national security and immigration headlining the issues going into the debate, Trump’s unconventional and controversial comments have bolstered the billioniare far beyond the rest of the candidates. According to the poll, Trump is leading the GOP candidates with a whopping 41% of the voters, with Texas Senator Ted Cruz moving up closer than any of the candidates with only 14%.

Many critics are saying that Trump’s anti-Muslim comments have actually helped him in the polls, gaining the support of 59% of the GOP in his suggestion to place a ban on people of the Muslim faith at American borders.

Tonight’s debate will take place at the Venetian Casino/Hotel in Vegas.
