In a recent interview, director Quentin Tarantino revealed that he was considering Jennifer Lawrence to play Daisy Domergue in his new film The Hateful Eight out today. He ultimately casted Jennifer Jason Leigh as the conniving fugitive, who is clobbered throughout the spaghetti western.
He told Entertainment Weekly:
I’m a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan … I can see her doing a good job with this role, so we went to talk about it and everything … She was just doing me a courtesy to see me, I think. She was doing ‘Joy.’ She had to do all this publicity on the ‘Hunger Games’ movies. There was just no f—ing way in the world that she was available … Having said that, I’m glad I didn’t cast somebody that young. I think I absolutely positively made the right choice, as far as the ages of the characters.
Lawrence’s dramedy Joy, in which she plays the inventor of the miracle mop, hits theaters today. On Wednesday, the beloved actress surprised kids at Kosair Children’s Hospital in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
