Federal officials have said that Ethan Couch, the Texas teenager who was sentenced to probation after killing four people in a drunk driving accident, has been apprehended in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico along with his mother.

The 18 year old who was given only ten years probation because his lawyers were able to convince a judge that Couch suffered from “affluenza”, went on the lamb after a video surfaced of him at a party where alcohol was being served, which was a violation of his probation. Within days, Couch nor his mother were able to be located by his probation officer. His mother is believed to have help him escape to the Mexican vacation hotspot where they were both caught yesterday.

That office said in a statement that they were taken into custody when they couldn’t prove they were in Mexico legally, were in the hands of Mexican immigration authorities, and would be returned to the U.S.

There was no comment available from the U.S. Marshals Service, which had issued a wanted poster promising a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Couch’s whereabouts and capture.
