It has just been announced that Jamie Hector, best known for his role on HBO‘s The Wire, has landed a place in the cast in the highly anticipated Tupac Shakur biopic ‘All Eyez On Me’.
The 40 year old Brooklyn native will play ‘Pac’s stepdad, Mutulu Shakur, a legendary revolutionary rooted in the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army movements. It is well known that Mutulu, who is currently incarcerated in Victorville Correctional Facility in California, had a great influence on Tupac’s upbringing, viewpoints on race relations and overall example of manhood. Afeni Shakur, who was romantically involved with Mutulu, is the executive producer of the film.
As for Hector, the actor is mostly recognized as “Marlo”, the new, no-nonsense hustler that took out Stringer Bell on HBO’s hit show, The Wire. We’ve seen him as a gangster; now let’s se how Hector fares as a revolutionary.
