A gun attack at Bacha Khan University campus by four attackers in Charsadda, north-west Pakistan has left at least 19 people dead, including the four attackers. According to BBC News, the local news is reporting it could be up to 21, but the number is expected to go up.

The gunfire and explosions were heard while security guards fought the attackers. According to officials three hours after the attack began, firing stopped but troops continued to search for gunmen since it is unclear if there are any more suspects were involved at this time.

The attackers struck at around 9:30 local time by climbing over the back wall, at the university’s guesthouse. They timed the attack with a ceremony at the university. Sources say the Taliban are responsible, but  spokesman Mohammad Khurrassani, from the Pakistan Taliban’s central organization states they had no parts in these horrific acts.

“We strongly condemn the attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda and disown the attack, saying this is not according to Shariah.”
