Actress and FOX News pundit Stacey Dash has made national headlines after saying that America should do away with Black History Month and the popular BET network, stating that the BET Awards were just as racist as the Oscars. The African American community immediately tore her a new one following her statements, taking to social media to insinuate Dash’s lack of Blackness.
In this interview with Dr. Boyce Watkins, Stacey’s cousin, former Roc-A-Fella mogul Damon Dash, addresses her comments, which can be seen below. He concedes that while Jada Pinkett-Smith and her husband Will showed self-interest in their decision to boycott the awards, he does feel that Black people in America showed be responsible for their own institutions and communities.
