Earlier [Wednesday, January 20] Elle Editor-in-Chief Robbie Myers hosted the magazine’s fifth annual Elle Women in TV celebration at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood.

The elegant and star-studded event honored women in the television industry and celebrated the release of Elles February Women in Television issue. Its cover stars are Priyanka Chopra, Viola Davis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Taraji P. Henson, and Olivia Wilde.

Priyanka, Viola and Olivia dazzled on the red carpet. When asked why TV is better than ever, Davis said on the red carpet:

Well I think that TV has just been better because of sheer volume. It used to be four channels when I was growing up: ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS and now you have Hulu, you have Amazon and you need enough content to fill up all of that. So now you have all of these journeyman actors, these character actors who would have been fourteenth or the fifteenth leads in a movie that they’re now going to TV because they are being written for — especially women over 40 and actors of color.

Other notables in attendance included Kirsten Dunst, Julie Bowen, Amanda Peet, Juliette Lewis, Rebecca Romijn, Nina Dobrev, Joy Bryant, Busy Philipps, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kate Walsh, Sarah Hyland, Jenna Elfman, Constance Zimmer, Darby Stanchfield, Malin Akerman, Yara Shahidi, Gillian Jacobs, Samira Wiley, Jordana Brewster, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aja Naomi King, and Meghan Markle, to name a few. The evening was presented by Hearts on Fire Diamonds and Olay.
