“I wanted to run at first. Then I was like ‘Nah, I’m not gonna run. I’m gonna hold my ground. I’mma drop this album same day,’”

We’re getting closer and closer to possibly the biggest day in hip-hop for the year. June 18th, as everyone knows, is the day that Kanye West, J. Cole, Mac Miller, & Statik Selectah are all dropping huge albums.

Mac Miller was actually the first to announce his release date for his sophomore album Watching Movies With The Sound Off but in an interview with Fuse, he expressed the pressure he felt, or lack there of for sharing the date with Kanye West.

“I wanted to run at first. Then I was like ‘Nah, I’m not gonna run. I’m gonna hold my ground. I’mma drop this album same day,’” the Pittsburgh rapper revealed.

“But I’m like this is the perfect way to do it. That this is an omen, there’s a reason that this is happening,” he explained. “I don’t know what it is, but there’s some reason. And J. Cole came up with his ‘I wanna go against Kanye.’ Maybe he didn’t know I was also dropping. He didn’t wanna mention the kid, which is cool. No hard feelings. But it’s become this really big day, which is exciting man. It’s exciting because everyone’s gonna be in the stores and they’re gonna buy records again…I don’t give a fuck about the competition. I just want people to listen to the album.”
