Former NFL wide receiver Josh Morgan shot himself with his gun while cleaning it at his house in Virginia on Jan. 31, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The 30-year-old Morgan was taken to a hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.” A Morgan rep told TMZ on Wednesday that the incident was a “simple accident,” and said that the NFL player was fine.

On Feb. 4, police charged Morgan with misdemeanor reckless use of a firearm.

The 30 year old former WR last played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears in 2014. He signed with the Saints last May and lost the final receiver spot to William Snead.

Morgan also spent four years with the San Francisco 49ers and two with the Washington Redskins. He has 209 receptions for 2,558 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career.
