One of Hollywood’s most celebrated actresses of the last century, Meryl Streep, has immersed herself in the diversity controversy in Tinseltown, saying that the entire global population originated in Africa.
The three time Oscar winner made the comment when she was questioned at a news conference if she was familiar with world cinema, particularly films from Africa and the Middle East.
“The thing that I notice is that there is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture and after all, we’re all from Africa originally, you know. We’re all Berliners; we’re all Africans, really.”
Streep’s shocking comments comes after the Oscar controversy, where there was an all-white nomination ballot for all twenty categories for the second year in a row. Several actors and actresses, white and Black, will be boycotting the award ceremony based on the racial disparity.
