The controversy over Beyonce‘s “Formation” performance at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show just goes to show how impactful music and stage presence can affect social issues.

The Miami chapter of the Fraternal Order Of Police have announced that they will be boycotting their security detail at two Beyonce concerts to be held in their city in April.

Her “anti-police message” prompted the Miami F.O.P. to vote to have all law enforcement officers boycott her April concert at Marlins Park in Miami’s Little Havana Neighborhood.

Her homage to the Black Panther Party For Self Defense, one of the most influential Black power groups of the late 1960s, also marked the 50 years since Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale formed the black nationalist group in Oakland, near to the stadium. Then FBI Director  J Edgar Hoover, called the BPP “the greatest threat to the internal security of the country.”
