For the second time in less than two months, a small earthquake has hit northern New Jersey near Morris County, says a federal environmental agency.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-1.6 quake hit the borough of Butler Thursday evening. Borough police say more than 1,000 people reported feeling the tremors. No damage has been reported.

The agency says that the epicenter of the quake was located about a mile underground.

A magnitude-2.07 earthquake also hit northern New Jersey last month, with Mahwah residents as well as those in New York’s Rockland County also feeling that quake.
