Earlier this week, The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Museum of Modern Art announced the highly anticipated line up of their joint festival New Directors/New Films. In its 45th year, the annual event shines a light on first time filmmakers from all over the world. This year’s festival, which runs from March 16-27, will screen 27 features and 10 short films.
Horror film, Under The Shadow, will open the festival. Directed by Babak Anvari, the film tells the story of a mother and daughter who are haunted by a sinister presence during the Iran-Iraq War. It was the talk of Sundance last month. The closing night film is Kirsten Johnson’s documentary Cameraperson. The film examines the delicate, complex relationship between filmmaker and subject.
Other films to look out for are Josh Kriegman and Elyse Sternberg’s Sundance Grand Jury Prizewinner Weiner; Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Happy Hour; Avishai Sivan’s Tikkun and Pascale Breton’s Suite Armoricaine. For more information visit here.
