A woman who was instructed to stop smoking by the bus driver stole the MTA bus and drove around Manhattan before being arrested this morning.

The woman became so upset and disruptive when the bus driver told her to put out her cigarette that the bus driver needed to pull the bus over and get the other passengers off the bus so that they could catch another one.

As the bus driver helped the other passengers of the bus the woman, in her 50s, then jumped in the bus’ driver’s seat and drove several blocks before she was blocked off by another bus at 100th Street and Third Avenue.

She was taken to Metropolitan Hospital for evaluation. The charges against her weren’t immediately clear.
