At a Ku Klux Klan rally today[February 27, 2016] in Anaheim, California, three people were stabbed while thirteen people were arrested following a violent confrontation between Klan members and protesters.

It was like a scene from the revolutionary 60s when a brawl between attendees of the KKK rally and counter-protesters. At one point, a man with a shirt that read “Grand Dragon” was pushed to the ground and kicked by some of the counter-protesters.

Six Klan members (five men and one woman) and seven protesters (six men and one woman) were later arrested.

The KKK has a brutal history in the city of Anaheim, where they once held four out of five City Council seats before a recall effort ousted them in 1924. These days, the group’s efforts are sporadic. While a cross was burned on the front lawn of a Black resident’s Anaheim Hills home in 2003, there was no definitive trace back to local Klan members.

Last Summer, at least 100 residents in Fullerton and Whitter woke up to find packets containing KKK fliers, and a Santa Ana neighborhood was covered with KKK flyers on Martin Luther King Jr. Day last month.
