Four people have been arrested in connection with the September shooting in Yonkers, NY that killed Oakland A’s prospect Mike Nolan.

Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty announced Tuesday that Nashaun Hunter, 17, of the Bronx, Garth O’Neil Cole, 22, of Mount Vernon, Darren Dawson, 18, of the Bronx, and Tejmitra Singh, 23, of the Bronx, were charged over the shooting. Hunter is being charged with second-degree murder, while Cole, Dawson, and Singh were charged with first-degree assault.

Nolan—a Yonkers native—was shot in the parking lot of a Burger King at 826 Central Ave. just after 12:30 a.m. on September 18. Authorities said Nolan was with several other people standing around his black Mercedes Benz loaner when a white Toyota Camry with the four suspects approached slowly. Hunter fired six shots from the driver’s side window—one struck Nolan in the head, according to authorities.

Nolan was put into a medically induced coma at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx before being declared dead on October 9.

Authorities say that the shooting was in retaliation to the beating of someone the suspects knew and centered around events from a drag race two nights earlier.

“The allegations in the indictment are frightening,” said Acting District Attorney James McCarty. “It’s alleged that Nashaun Hunter, aided and abetted by Garth O’Neil Cole, Darren Dawson and Tejmitra Singh, piled into a car and drove to a fast food restaurant at which point the car they were in slowed so that Hunter could fire six shots and kill Michael Nolan, an innocent young man with a promising future.”

The 6-foot-7 Nolan led Saunders Trades and Technical High School, in Yonkers, to a school-record 15 wins as a senior in 2009. The left-handed pitcher then attended several small colleges in Texas and Oklahoma, and even survived Tommy John surgery, before being drafted in the 18th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Oklahoma City University.
