Joey Bada$$ is looking to expand his range from the mic to the small screen. The Brooklyn lyricist joining the cast of USA‘s Golden Globe-winning series Mr. Robot next season. According to Variety, Joey will be playing the role of “Leon”, who’s a good friend of the protagonist Elliot (Rami Malek), “who often talks excessively to Elliot, advising him and philosophizing the meanings of life.”

For those who are unfamiliar with Mr. Robot here’s a quick synopsis as per IMDB:

Young, anti-social computer programmer Elliot works as a cybersecurity engineer during the day, but at night he is a vigilante hacker. He is recruited by the mysterious leader of an underground group of hackers to join their organization. Elliot’s task? Help bring down corporate America, including the company he is paid to protect, which presents him with a moral dilemma. Although he works for a corporation, his personal beliefs make it hard to resist the urge to take down the heads of multinational companies that he believes are running — and ruining — the world.
Joey’s role will not be a simple cameo, but he will be a recurring cast member, appearing in multiple episodes of the show.
Mr. Robot returns for season 2 this summer.
