Yesterday [Friday, March 11] NBC announced a new live variety series starring beloved comedians Maya Rudolph and Martin Short.
The show, called Maya and Marty in Manhattan, will be executive produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels. It will premiere at 10 p.m. on May 31, following the two-hour season premiere of America’s Got Talent.
Kenan Thompson will also star in the show, which will film at 30 Rock. It won’t conflict with his other gig on SNL, since that show is on hiatus over the summer. Fans can expect sketches that spoof current events, celebrities and trends. The show will also feature musical performances. Rudolph is probably best known for starring on Saturday Night Live for eight seasons (2000-07). Remember her epic Beyonce impersonations? She also starred in films like Bridesmaids, Sisters and Grown Ups. Short starred in Saturday Night Live from 1984-85. He is also known for Three Amigos (1986), Father of the Bride (1991), Mars Attacks! (1996) and Jungle 2 Jungle (1997) among many other projects.
Martin and Maya’s new show is bound to be hilarious. Look out for it this summer!
